Avast cleanup download file restore windows#
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.1.26.1.10.481 ĪV: avast! Antivirus *Enabled/Updated* : DhcpNameServer = 192.168.1.254 I don't know exactly what the rootkit was, there's nothing in the vault, just a list of affected files in the scan log.ĭDS log below, attach.txt and ark.txt are attached. That said, I left it on overnight running the GMER scan and it's still working normally this morning. If I try to run an Avast scan in this state, it refuses to scan larger files due to lack of system resources.

Subsequent full scans and boot scans haven't found anything, but when I'm using Firefox I'll notice after 20-30 minutes of browsing that the text has disappeared from the blue window title bars, the Start button and all the menu options when I click Start - the icons still remain, but the text next to them has vanished.
I took the option to repair, rebooted as it asked me to, it then advised deleting the last 6 files it couldn't repair, which I did. Avast found a rootkit a couple of days ago.
